Okay. This isn't exactly a revelation, but I just have to come back and talk about how much I love 'The Good Place.' When I watch this show, I genuinely consider giving up writing because, if I am honest, it is in the top five things closest to *my* taste in art that I have ever come in contact with. It is stupid, funny, philosophically centered, and smart. It is so unbelievably dumb-smart! I just wish I could have created it myself...Except maybe not? Because if I created it, I'd probably judge it without as much love. And I LOVE 'The Good Place' so so so much.

I’m a bit late to the party (too much celebrating May the Fourth I’m sure) but I came here to tell you about two things I love.

1) Six Feet Under - I very much grew up watching this show and it’s so smart, dark and funny. I actually wrote my dissertation on it, and made myself wait years and years to rewatch it after that so I didn’t spoil it. Pleased to report it’s a delight to go back to.

2) Mario games. They’re so charming and well made. Plus Mario just always seems really happy even in dire straits!

Better late than never! Everyone talks about Six Feet Under. It seems like the kind of show that I might legitimately take the leap and watch at some point. Rave reviews all around. What do you think makes it so special?

Does Super Smash Bros count as a Mario game? Or Mario Kart? Because I can fuck with those for sure!

so much of my loves are food related. i really love a ton of food-related tv and youtubes. nice food competition shows like GBBO, halloween/holiday/spring baking championship, cupcake wars, or america's worst baker, kid's baking championship. watching kid's bake is SO NICE and they are SO HELPFUL to each other. really any sort of food competition where there is some fun and camaraderie and thinking on your feet. i love to see how creative people get. i'm also not gonna lie, i sometimes just let diners, dive-ins, and dives play in the background. yell at me about crazy sandwiches guy!

i also love to experiment with new recipes but i especially kind of love to fail at new recipes. these no stakes failures can be really fun for me. regardless of the "failure," it usually means there is something delicious to eat. cooking and baking is one of the only times i can turn my brain off so it's a really comforting to me. I LOVE IT.

Yes, yes, yes. I've been trying to join the healing-with-food creativity game for like six months, and it is truly so magical when it works. And also like. A "bad" bake is still a bake? Bad cinnamon roll? STILL A CINNAMON ROLL!

Do you watch Nailed It!? Because THAT...is art.

YES. Nailed It! is on a regular rotation. Definitely comfort tv, that is.

Two things: 1) The Crown, 2) really good hot black coffee. Not really together, just those are the 2 things that give me a lot of life right now. It's actually my second time through the series, and it makes me want to marry a British prince (which reminds me that I also really love Red, White, and Royal Blue).

Oh YES, coffee dzaddy! Yes, yes, yes. I need to try harder on The Crown. Maybe I'll like it more if I imagine you at The Queen?

I AM the queen, bitch! But like, hey, if The Crown isn't your thing, it isn't your thing! It also means I get young Antony Armstrong-Jones (Matthew Goode in real life) all to myself. <DROOL>

I LOVE IT BECAUSE YOU LOVE IT!

I recently rediscovered my almost fanatical love of the movie "Mary Poppins Returns." Movie magic that I can watch over and over, a soundtrack I can sing to over and over while cleaning house, driving in the car, whatever. And I don't apologize a bit for it!

Also, I love the musical "Cats." This is a harder one to justify, but it was the first professional theatre I ever saw! In London, in 1982, when it had just opened, when the choreography was much more feline and MUCH more erotic (!). Plus my Mom read all the Eliot poems to us when we were kids. So I was ripe for the plucking. Is it shallow? Is it smarmy? Is it sentimentalized? Is it RIDICULOUS? Absolutely. I love it.

And you're right: these days when one mentions that one is a fan of almost anything someone immediately has to hike his leg all over it.

CATS. He said it! A perfect example of what I am talking about. I love that you love the Cats! I saw the tour in ~2004 (?) and ran around doing a mr. mistoffelees impression for...ten years? Pure joy.

I'll finish the story: When I got back to the states for my senior year of college, "Cats" was still a year from Broadway. So I had to order back to London for the poster which still hangs in my home. (I bought the sweatshirt there in London.)

David, I realized you probably don't know my resume this well: When still young and lithe and buff I played Darius in "Jeffrey." If you don't know the play, it was one of the first AIDS plays (and THE first comedy) and Darius - the character - is a dancer who is IN "Cats" on B'way. He's dumb as a post but charming as all get out, and the climax of the play is after his death from AIDS when he comes back from heaven.

Talk about a fuckin' fantasy come true?!? I got to wear not one but TWO costumes from "Cats" - a brown and orange and black stripey one, but then (after heaven) an all-white version of the same costume. I had to stand perfectly still for two days while an artist airbrushed stripes onto my very tight bodystocking, and let me tell you somethiing: that paint is COLD. Especially when she's on her back between your knees shooting paint up at your balls.

CATS!!!!! I'm so tired of people pooping on this. YES to Cats! <3

I love trains. And everything about them. I grew up riding subways and taking train trips, both short and extended. When I go on vacation, I research ahead of time if my time away will include a train museum (there's plenty of those) or a train ride. I've even had the opportunity to ride in a diesel locomotive. I subscribe to live feeds on YouTube to "keep an eye" on trains all over the U.S. and even the world. I watch videos of cab rides that make it feel like you're riding up front with the engineer. My love of trains also includes trolley cars and I look forward to model train shows that come to my area that feature trains and trolleys. Did you know that Puerto Rico has a subway system? Yes, and of course, I've been on it. All 11 miles of it! From people to freight to track layout, there is much to like about trains. The biggest private construction project in the U.S. right now is building a passenger train along Florida's east coast that, when finished, will stretch from Miami to the airport in Orlando. My goal is to ride it when it's ready to go in 2023. I think you can tell that I'm pretty enthusiastic about my love of all things train and train related.

Wow! This is like finding a rare bird. A real-life "train person". I've heard about them in the movies but didn't know I knew any. This is such a good example of what I'm talking about. I love that you're a train person! I remember my first time taking a "real train" (Amtrak, as opposed to the shuttles at the airport or subway in NYC) and it felt like such a special way to travel. I got to take the bullet train from London to Paris too, but I was 20 and I don't think I really appreciated it as I should have...I've got to start paying better attention! Up here in the northeast, train travel is much more common, so I'm going to keep my sensors engaged moving forward.

I’m currently loving Life in Pieces. It makes me laugh so hard that I choke. And I really need that energy rn

I LOVE Life in Pieces! I was so sad when it ended. I've rewatched at least 3 times through. I found it right after I had my daughter, and it was so relatable that I verged on peeing my pants laughing so hard.

I've literally...never heard of this? This is unusual because you know I love a sitcom...but I guess it checks out because CBS is not *my* go-to network. This is an endorsement I can fux with, though, so I'll try it! What is your fav part about it?

I love Gilmore Girls. I know there are other things, but I just finished the entire series for like the 6th time plus the reunion “season” for the 3rd time, and it’s fresh in my brain.

I have started a re-watch of GG like three times, and always love it but never finish, but it gives me huge comfort vibes. It’s such a solid program! Who “Are” you?

The interwebs has varying opinions on this. One quiz says Luke (???) and one Rory (meh?). I feel like once upon a time I was also pegged as Suki (I do love to cook and bake...?). I feel like I'm some hybrid - a lot of Lorelai but more responsible and less self-involved. They're all pretty stark archetypes. I've definitely dated a Dean and a Christopher and a Logan. Still waiting for my Jess/Luke hybrid LOL

You see - this is where the REAL nuance comes out and I LOVE IT.
