This will make me sound like a boomer that peaked in high school, but in this day and age, it is not very cool to actually enjoy things, is it? Do you know what I mean? Everyone is a fuckin’ critic. The minute people start to enjoy something truly, the rest of the world (generalization) discovers some reason to explain why that thing is terrible. Like, yes, some things are terrible and problematic, but what I am talking about here are the harmless things that don’t really matter or hurt anyone. Maybe they’re games, music, tv shows, design trends, or people… I don’t know. Whatever they are, it just seems like we don’t know how to allow other people to enjoy what they enjoy anymore. I want to change that.
Today, I want to know about the thing that you love and celebrate it with you! Leave a comment on this post and tell me about something you just freakin’ love.
It could be new nail polish or an Ariana Grande song. The Wire, freshly washed towels, or candles that smell like a peony. It doesn’t matter what it is, just that you love it. And I know this is kind of weird, but just indulge me and share something. You have to love something.
Why should you do this? Because here in Gangletown, you can shout proudly, and we’ll all support you. In fact, we’ll talk about how amazing your thing is too! And/or we’ll ask you fun questions about why you love it! Maybe we’ll discover a new thing that we didn’t know about because you gifted us with the blessing of your comment, and we’ll love it for ourselves! Then, we’ll be in a sort of love club together, talking about the great stuff that we love, including each other, but I won’t be the club president, because in high school I was the president of a lot of clubs and I think it gave me semi-undeserved confidence!

Okay. This isn't exactly a revelation, but I just have to come back and talk about how much I love 'The Good Place.' When I watch this show, I genuinely consider giving up writing because, if I am honest, it is in the top five things closest to *my* taste in art that I have ever come in contact with. It is stupid, funny, philosophically centered, and smart. It is so unbelievably dumb-smart! I just wish I could have created it myself...Except maybe not? Because if I created it, I'd probably judge it without as much love. And I LOVE 'The Good Place' so so so much.
I’m a bit late to the party (too much celebrating May the Fourth I’m sure) but I came here to tell you about two things I love.
1) Six Feet Under - I very much grew up watching this show and it’s so smart, dark and funny. I actually wrote my dissertation on it, and made myself wait years and years to rewatch it after that so I didn’t spoil it. Pleased to report it’s a delight to go back to.
2) Mario games. They’re so charming and well made. Plus Mario just always seems really happy even in dire straits!
