Welcome to the Hump Day Motivation (HDM), a bi-weekly edition of ‘Gangletown’ about thirst and culture to get us through those rough mid-week moments. The HDM is typically released every other Wednesday for full-access subscribers only, but it is for everyone today. If you know someone that might love it, you have my full blessing to forward it their way!
How “am I?”
I’m at a point of exhaustion that causes me to ask the question, “Do I…hate myself?” Of course, I’m being funny… Right? RIGHT?
Yes, I’m being funny. But I am super tired. On top of work, where my new job has sometimes triggered polar feelings of overwhelm/imposter syndrome/pride/and fear, Blaine and I moved apartments last week. Our last apartment has a few buildings nearby being knocked down in the coming year, so we thought it best to take advantage of the Covid pricing and get out. Leaving that place is bittersweet because we just moved in as of January 2020, and it was our first apartment, just the two of us since…ever. But! We got a great deal on the new place, it’s a mile away from the old one, and we’re mostly done with the moving process. It’s sort of like we got to have a special little covid-era specific apartment, and now we get to change the chapter with this new place. That’s a nice pov! Getting here, though, was rough. We’ve both been weeded with work, so packing and coordinating everything took a few years off our lives. And this week? We’re still finishing the process and getting ready to go on vacation next week. All this to say, we’re obviously super privileged and grateful but also a little senile at the moment.
Pride Edition
It’s June. It’s Pride Month, and pride is sexy as hell.
Pride is Dzaddy. Pride is DILFoftheWeek. Pride is about life, sex, and protest.
Every year the importance and power of LGBTQIA+ (queer) pride increases. Shouldn’t it be less important? The logic behind pride being less important would imply that we’ve progressed in the acceptance, legalization, and support of all queer people, but that hasn’t quite happened.
Don’t believe me?
***This year*** in the USA, hundreds of *new* anti-queer - specifically anti-trans - laws are being signed. IN 2021. Twenty-fucking-twenty-one and we are still creating laws that make it harder for queer people to simply live in this country with the same rights as cis-het citizens. (INSERT RAGE SCREAMING)
These laws, and the antiquated modes of thinking which define us (queer people) as “not normal” in any way, make everyday life *literally* unsafe for queer people. That is why we Pride.

I Meme’d
Lorde, who is kinda like a prettier Jesus, has finally released new music, and the song is called Solar Power. The internet energy around the song/release was very loud. I think a lot of people wanted the song but then didn’t like when they got it? Sort of like how I was for the entirety of my dating history before meeting Blaine…
Anyway. I didn’t really “care” about the release because I’ve not historically been a huge Lorde stan, but I actually love the song. Good job, Lorde!
I also caught a fleeting moment of inspiration and created this dumb meme featuring the most iconic duo of 2021, and people laughed at it online. Because I am a very unfamous person on the internet, I will continue to peddle this one joke until it is entirely unfunny and a little concerning to all that know me. LOOK, I DID A FUNNY. VALIDATE ME. SERATONIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
