BREAKING: Hot Tattoo'd Man Dancing on Instagram Causes Death by Thirst
Hump Day Motivation 09/08/21
Welcome to the Hump Day Motivation (HDM), a bi-weekly edition of Gangletown. Hump Day is all about the things that make me happy, hopeful, and horny. So buckle up, and enjoy a mid-week digital wiggle!
This Wednesday’s publication is the first “Hump Day Motivation” in its new format. For the last year, the HDM has been one of my favorite things to create every other week, and it was also most successful in terms of engagement from Gangletown’s full-access subscribers. Now, I may be dumb, but I’m not stupid, so I’ve adjusted to bring more hump day thirst to all the gangles. Instead of hiding it behind the paywall, hump day is now for everyone. *Celebratory sound cue here*
Whether you’re new to Hump Day, or just a thirsty lil’ Gumby like me, I hope you enjoy this silly edition.
All love,
David
Music: Katie Pruitt
Here I am minding my own business, listening to a casual and sensible background playlist curated by one of the digital music overlord algorithms at Spotify, and what do I hear? The tantalizing and emotional voice of one Katie Pruitt. I stopped everything and navigated my way to her artist page to listen to everything she’s published. The voice!? Ma’am. The voice is IT. It’s colorful and vibrant, and something about it really just caught my ear. Listening deeper, I started hearing more about who she is, and it wasn’t long before I clued into an element of her work that is no twist for me: queerness. It was like a breath of fresh air. I don’t know how I knew, but something told me to pay attention and dig a little deeper when that song came on, and now I’m thrilled to be able to support another rising gay artist with insane talent.
Here is an interview with Katie Pruitt that I read.

Television: Grey’s Anatomy
Listen. At this point, when it comes to Grey’s Anatomy, you’re either in, or you’re out, I think. I think? Idk. Maybe you were in, and you fell out, and this exciting news will bring you back in? If that’s you, please tell me. Because this is an exciting moment.
Grey’s - season EIGHTEEN - is coming soon, and it was recently announced that ADDISON IS COMING BACK! Oh god, y’all. I really hope she is messy and exhausting and that somehow we’ll be able to forget about the entire life that she had post-Grey’s on Private Practice. I hope. Because I loved the OG Addison, and I think there could be something extraordinary about her coming back into the Grey’s universe if they play it right. This feels like it’s for the fans, and I’m the fans, and I want a sexy mess.
Other programs of note: We’ve been watching Nine Perfect Strangers, The Other Two, and Kevin Can Fuck Himself. The Other Two is a fucking gem, and the two other shows are…interesting, but I’m not sure how I feel. Is anyone watching?
Books: Crying in H Mart & Slayer
This weird thing happened in 2021; I simply stopped reading? I don’t know what it was, but all of the sudden I had zero capacity to read a book. Probably pandemic fatigue? And depression? And, ya know, the world being generally weird. Anyway, I don’t judge myself, but I do know that I love books, so I been giving myself patience for months to come back to them when I’m ready. Then, a couple of weeks ago I learned about a Buffy-universe book trilogy by Kiersten White and figured that it would be a frothy fun way to get myself back into the groove. I ordered the first two books - Slayer and Chosen - from Bluestockings Cooperative, a queer indie bookstore in the LES, and I am about a hundred pages into Slayer.
Plus! I also started audio-reading Michelle Zauner’s memoir Crying H Mart which is really quite stunning. I’m about 3/4 of the way through that one, and I feel confident that I too will be sobbing at the end. It’s a gorgeous book.
News: Amazon warehouse in Tijuana, Mexico
There is a bunch of internet commotion happening on Twitter (shocking, I know) and it’s related to Amazon (shocking, I know).
This thread by @CharmaineSChua gives a little overview into the topic. Click and read!
Internet: Channing Tatum and Zoë Kravitz
Confirmed Hots Channing Tatum and Zoë Kravitz are apparently as obsessed with each other as I am with the idea of them doing stuff with each other in the dark of night. Their romance has been flaunted about town recently, and an epidemic of bisexual thirst has nearly incapacitated the entire island of Manhattan and it’s regional affiliates.
No one is better at the internet than my friend R. Eric Thomas, so we’re going to leave this one to him. He wrote a bit about the hot pair and their apparent affinity for bikes HERE.
THIRST: Martin Gratton - (aka Martin the French Guy @martinthefrenchguy)
HELLO, I’m dead. I found this guy on Instagram (shocking, I know) a couple months back, and I’ve been deceased since that very moment. Here is the thing. I know that thirsting after randoms on social media is passé and boring, but aren’t we allowed to have like…one? I’ve unfollowed 90% of the instasluts I used to find myself drawn to, because it’s just healthier for me personally, but Mr. Martin Thee French Guy has me a regressing…
GO! Watch the videos of him dancing and you’ll understand.
Full disclosure, I don’t know much about this man at all. I know just that he has tattoos, he is a dancer, he makes dancing videos on the internet, and he gives the me goody-goody-gumdrop sensation in my oopsy corners. The sad part - or perhaps the part that makes this all totally perfect? - is that he seems to be Canadian. I have nothing against Canadians! I just hate being cold. And Canada is cold. He is hot, but Canada is cold. That is just science.
Thank you Martin, for being hot. Please @ me if you’re ever in NYC…
Just kidding…
Unless?
What’s next?: New York Fashion Week
I’ve found that fashion, for whatever reason, really gets my creative juices going. When I watch fashion competitions hows like Project Runway or Making the Cut, my urge to create goes bizonkers, and I want nothing more than to re-do my entire wardrobe and lifestyle. Am I “fashionable”? Objectively, I have to say no. In New York, I’m the equivalent of a walking Wal-mart. But, I really enjoy the art and magic of fashion, so I’ll be enjoying the week’s festivities via the internet from my apartment. Join me? Send me your favorite pieces on insta @dkimps.
